Hello,

I would like to know if 87632 is the correct cpt code for a panel code for the tests listed above.

A test is performed on a respiratory specimen obtained by bronchoalveolar lavage, nasal wash, nasopharyngeal swab, or pleural fluid aspiration to identify specific types or subtypes of certain respiratory viral infections which may include adenovirus, influenza virus, coronavirus, metapneumovirus, parainfluenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and/or rhinovirus. The specimen is tested using DNA or RNA multiplex reverse transcription and amplification probe technique. Using multiplex reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), DNA or RNA from multiple types or subtypes of specific respiratory viruses is extracted and amplified. The amplified DNA or RNA fragments are sized and analyzed for the specific types or subtypes. Use 87631 for 3-5 targets (types of subtypes) of the specific respiratory viruses. Use 87632 for 6-11 targets. Use 87633 for 12-25 targets.
