Hi all is there any tips to know when to code R22 codes vs R5? For example say a report states lymph node in the neck. Would you code a R22 code because it does not state enlargement or would you code R59 because it states lymph node? Would it be lymph node condition?

R22.- is swelling mass and lump of skin and subcutaneous tissue. R59.- is swelling of the actual lymph nodes. So, if the documentation says swelling/enlarged lymph nodes, you would use R59. :)

I would agree with KalliP - assuming the scenario "lymph notes in the neck" was the reason for the visit, or a laboratory report describing inflammation of the lymph nodes as a medical condition.
