Hi All,
I know that the rules for newborns are different with the OCG stating "has implications for future healthcare needs." When newborn is born by C-Section due to breech presentation and the physician states "breech complicating newborn recommendation to parents to follow up with Ortho for x-ray in four months. There are no hip clicks or other problems documented with the newborn joints. In order to assign the code C-Section delivery complicating newborn...the coder must assign the complication first. When no complication is documented but the physician recommends follow up, what should the coder do? What codes can be assigned? Thank-you

My vote goes to -P03.4 Newborn affected by Cesarean delivery is a billable code used to specify a medical diagnosis of newborn affected by cesarean delivery. The code is valid for the year 2020 for the submission of HIPAA-covered transactions. The ICD-10-CM code P03.4 might also be used to specify conditions or terms like cesarean wound disruption, cesarean wound disruption, cesarean wound disruption - delivered with postnatal complication, cesarean wound disruption with postnatal complication, fetal or neonatal effect of cesarean section, fetal or neonatal effect of complication of delivery, etc
