When coding for infected hernia mesh I get T8142XA but instructional note tells me to also add a code to "identify the specified condition resulting from the complication" I'm not sure what they're asking for? In this case there was a staph infection, are they asking for the B code? Thanks for any help!
 
Yes.

T81.4 category has a red note to use additional code to identify infection or severe sepsis.

So yes the staph infection needs to be coded.

A49.0 category for staph infections.
