Hi Alicia,
Can one use the Add-on code +44955 Appendectomy; when done for indicated purpose at time of other major procedure (not as separate procedure) (List separately in addition to code for primary procedure), with laparoscopic procedures?
I do not see anything in NCCI, and also not in rules, but it is listed as you know with other open procedure codes. and there is also nothing in Desk Reference that suggest that it can be used if an appendectomy was performed at the same time than another laparoscopic procedure.
In Short the patient went for 58660/49592/49322 and the doctor then did a appendectomy while there.

Yes, they can use it but:
Use 44955 when an appendectomy is performed for a documented medical reason at the time of another major abdominal procedure.

Is this is even as mentioned during another laparoscopic procedure and when removed through the same laparoscope? Desk reference mention incision in 44955?
