Resolved Nonunion fracture (Code as a closed fracture)?

I'm having problems with coding this. I have read that if it doesn't specify what type of fracture it is to code this as closed. Can someone look over this and if this is wrong please tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to code this correctly?

A 23 year old male who previously suffered a metacarpal fracture of the left hand, 2nd metacarpal bone, as the result of a gunshot wound develops a nonunion of the metacarpal.

I've coded this as: S12.112K and X94.0XXS Thanks! Susan

S62.301K - Unspecified fracture of second metacarpal bone, left hand, subsequent encounter for fracture with nonunion
How do you know it was an assault for the X code?

I thought that at first but I looked up some information online and it went toward the X code. Is the first code correct?
