Yes; you need to buy new 2018 books if your testing date is in 2018. Chandra explains in this video around the 01:41 mark <https://store.cco.us/pages/textbook-overview> You can switch out the 2016/2017 years she talks about with 2017/2018.
Please keep in mind that once you become a coder; this is a yearly purchase that is required to code accurately.
