Let's look at the codes.

You do say -dental Crown fractures meaning the crown is cracked not the tooth.
So my vote would be
K08.53
Fractured dental restorative material

K03.81 – Cracked Tooth

S02.5
Fracture of tooth (traumatic)

Clinical Information
  • Break or rupture of a tooth or tooth root.
  • Broken tooth affecting any portion of tooth: root fracture, crown-root, broken tooth (crown fracture), chipped tooth. A crown fracture can involve the pulp. Tooth fracture sequelae range in severity from cosmetic defects to tooth death. Involvement of the pulp is a more important indicator of severity of tooth fracture than is the amount of the tooth affected.
K08.53
Fractured dental restorative material

Type 1 Excludes
  • cracked tooth (K03.81)
  • traumatic fracture of tooth (S02.5)
K08.53 is a non-specific and non-billable ICD-10 code code, consider using a code with a higher level of specificity for a diagnosis of fractured dental restorative material. The code is not specific and is NOT valid for the year 2023 for the submission of HIPAA-covered transactions. Category or Header define the heading of a category of codes that may be further subdivided by the use of 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th characters.

  • K08.530 for Fractured dental restorative material without loss of material
  • K08.531 for Fractured dental restorative material with loss of material
  • K08.539 for Fractured dental restorative material, unspecified
An unsatisfactory restoration of tooth can be a defective bridge, crown, filling, or restoration. ICD-10-CM defines the following complications with a tooth restoration:

  • Open restoration margins of tooth: Including a failure of marginal integrity, an open margin on tooth restoration, or poor gingival margin to the tooth restoration.
  • Unrepairable overhanging of dental restorative materials: The material overhangs and needs to be further contoured.
  • Fractured dental restorative material: A crack in the restoration with loss of material or without loss of material.
  • Contour of existing restoration of tooth biologically incompatible with oral health: Including failure of periodontal anatomical integrity, unacceptable contours of existing restoration of tooth, and unacceptable morphology.
  • Allergy to existing dental restorative material: Use an additional code from Z88.- to identify the specific type of allergy
  • Poor aesthetic of existing restoration of tooth: An inadequate or displeasing look to the dental restoration
  • Other unsatisfactory restoration of tooth: Documentation specifies other type of restoration not included above.
