Hello,

I have claims that are being denied due to bundling. Can I code 87636 with 87804 for covid testing? what would be the correct modifier to use.

G2023 and G2024 were also being denied as incentives for CPT code U0003 for some payers and some payers pay. I've researched to see if they are bundling issues but I couldn't find any articles that confirm they do. Please help.

Thanks

For both COVID and influenza, you would only report 87636 as this includes both COVID and influenza. Code 87636 - Infectious agent detection by nucleic acid (DNA or RNA); severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (coronavirus disease [COVID-19]) and influenza virus types A and B, multiplex amplified probe technique.

Regarding G2023 and G2024, I was able to find this info from CMS:

Hello is cpt code 87811 also the correct code for antigen testing in a school setting POS 03 and is it acceptable with G2023? thank you
This area is not my expertise, so I am going to leave your question regarding this to someone else to answer because I do not want to give you incorrect info.

I did do some research to see if I could direct you in the right direction until someone can answer your question. I did find out from CMS site that COVID testing in schools do require a CLIA cert and per CMS "The COVID-19 tests will be free to students and staff. You will never receive a bill, and your insurance will not be charged." https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/201...to students and, insurance will not be charged.
