Debbie Stoner asked:

Sorry; seeking clarity regarding the topic from the 6/20/19 webinar. How should the following example be coded ?

HPI: Pt presents with sore throat; nausea; headache; joint pain; tightness in chest and tickle cough.

A and P findings
Doctor orders strep (neg)
Gives Depo Medrol 80mg due to length of illness
Writes script for antibiotic

Dx is Acute URI

How should this be coded?

Sorry; confused and want to ensure that we have been coding/billing correctly and appreciate everyones help with this. https://www.aapc.com/blog/27677-96372-done-right/

Answer:

I am curious as to what you were thinking or what you would code. URI is the Dx and it would most likely be a level 4 d/t strep test; script and new dx.
